Spotify Codes generate a unique link to a track, album, or playlist you want to share. Like a QR code, others can scan that code to listen to the same music. Each artist, track, album, and playlist can have a unique code, enabling you to share anything on Spotify any way you want.
Spotify Codes are available for free and Premium subscribers — anyone can use them. To generate a code, click on the three dots (next to the heart icon) on anything you want to share. This button will be on all albums, tracks, playlists, and artists.
From there, you can download (if you’re a Premium subscriber), share, and like. At the top, beneath the artwork, you’ll see a Spotify Code. Click the code to enlarge it.
If you’re in the same location as the person with whom you want to share, they can scan the code directly from their Spotify app. You can also save the image to your photos, enabling you to send it to someone else for them to open with Spotify.
To scan a Spotify Code, tap the camera button to the right of the search bar in the Spotify app, and tap “Scan.” Accept the permissions so Spotify can access your camera, and you can scan the code from someone else’s device or photo.
If someone has sent you an image, you can choose “Select From Photos” to find the image in your library. Select “Choose,” and Spotify will lovingly carry you away to whatever track, album, playlist, or artist has been shared with you.
Artists, record labels, and brands can also print Spotify Codes onto promotional material and advertisements, where they can be scanned and used in the same way as outlined above.
